Jorge Santos

Associate Professor

Biography

Jorge Santos is an Associate professor at the Norwegian College of Fisheries Science. He is normally busy with general fisheries research, management and lecturing on fisheries ecology and research methods. This has led him to nice collaborations in four continents. Since he started snorkelling as a child, he is keen on coastal research, not only about the fish, the oceanography, the ecosystem, but also the dynamics of the small-scale fisheries, their language and costumes, organization and operation modes, craft and gear. These technological and cultural characteristics are influenced by the world outside, but tend to be conservative. Importantly, they have transformed and evolved with the ecosystem. In Estuarize-WIO, Jorge is responsible for coordinating activities in Work Package 4 (Synthesis).
