Biography

Mr. Masumbuko Semba is a Tanzanian lecturer at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology, and a doctoral student at KU Leuven in Belgium. Semba specializes in Earth Observations Technology, where he uses Geospatial tools and satellite remote sensing data to understand physical and environmental issues.┬áSemba is current working with NOAA/AOML’s Physical Oceanography Division (PhOD) through the global drifters programme. In that project, he combines satellite altimetry and drifter observations data to model the surface ocean circulation of the Western Indian Ocean. In Estuarize-WIO, Semba is the Tanzanian scientists in WP1, contributing to studies on estuary biophysical attributes, surrounding habitats and land-use.
