Fiona MacKay is a Senior Scientist at the Oceanographic Research Institute (ORI) in Durban, South Africa leading a portfolio of projects dealing with estuarine ecology and management and coastal and marine benthic ecosystems. Fiona has a special interest in the ecology, taxonomy and habitats occupied by estuarine and marine invertebrates, in particular focussing on species that connect terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Her recent work is directed at large river-dominated systems that influence marine productivity and the biophysical variability associated with these important systems. In Estuarize-WIO, Fiona coordinates the activities of WP1 (Estuary biophysical attributes, surrounding habitats and land-use)
